Thai Language Learning
As adults, we understand that reading is a source of joy, entertainment and knowledge. For children, reading is a fundamental skill for improving their performance at school. At Tonkla School, we instill the value of reading to our students by implementing various reading activities in our curricula and extra-curricular activities.
Tonkla School organizes the Love to Read program with various in-class, outdoor, and at home activities. For example, we organize R15 at school, which stands for Read for 15 minutes. We set aside 15 minutes each day for students to read a book of their choice. This way, students are encouraged to explore personal interests and engage them in school activities.
Children acquire language skills through their surroundings. Oftentimes, parents expect their children to gain literacy skills at a very young age by using the learning methods that are fit for adults. Children acquire language skills naturally through interaction with parents and teachers. Once past infancy, children start to learn vocabulary, spelling, and sentence composition through storytelling.
Tonkla School encourages our students to love to read. Thai language education is organized into each appropriate developmental stage by using picture books, story books, and all of our surroundings as a whole.
With so many things to learn, Tonkla School understands that meaningful development takes time. With our helping hands, students at our school are free to discover themselves and the world.
