1. What is alternative education ?
Alternative education is loosely defined as non-conventional education that encompasses multiple approaches. There are different approaches such as Montessori, Waldorf, Neo-humanist and, in Thailand, the Buddhist approach. Generally speaking, all approaches share similar characteristics such as smaller class size, more individualized attention, interactive learning experiences, and less focus on standardized exams.
Tonkla School is a private co-educational bilingual alternative school. We design our learning experience based on child developmental science, considering physical, socio-emotional and intellectual growth. Classes at Tonkla School are highly interactive and engaging. We believe in a holistic learning process through which students learn physically, mindfully, and intellectually. Our approach engages students’ interest and curiosity, growing them into engaging, vibrant and independent young adults.
“ If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's,
we rob them of tomorrow."
